50km of new elevated road for Delhi

PWD – public works department is planning to construct 50km of new elevated roads in Delhi city. This is apart from some 50-60 km which is either already being constructed or is in planning stage.

PWD submitted a roadmap of ongoing projects to the Urban Development department, indicating its plans for decongesting Delhi. There are four projects which are already going on, four are waiting for some approvals or the other, feasibility studies are being carried out in case of fourteen projects.

Either flyovers or elevated roads is a way to go as the land prices and land acquisition are two major on the ground problem areas for PWD.

Almost all new projects which are being planned are  elevated roads except areas like  Nizamuddin and Lodhi Road connection and stretch between Lutyens’ Delhi and the IGI Airport will probably would get tunnel roads.
