7 tunnels proposed to ease traffic woes in Delhi

Seven tunnels are proposed by Delhi traffic police and a committee of Union transport ministry soon will scrutinize the proposal.

The proposal suggests easing of traffic In the clogged stretches like ITO BY 80%. The proposed roads are going to as short as 1 km to 2.5 km in length to keep them cost-effective and make them ready to use as soon as possible.

The roads in Delhi are disconnected at many stretches and the proposal is to connect them by an alternative route for commuters,” said Anil Shukla, joint commissioner of police (traffic).

For instance Bhagwan Das Road and Old Fort will be directly connected to Ring Road, Mandi house to Kotla road, RML Hospital connecting the upper Ridge road, Tansen Marg to Mata Sundari Road, Safdar Hashmi Marg to Vishnu Digamber Marg, Tolstoy Marg to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg (from below the railway crossing, Todapur to Brar Square; easing traffic jams in adjacent areas like ITO, Mandi House, Tilak Marg, Mathura Road and Pragati Maidan.
