In Mumbai in the year of 2005, Ambuja Cement has launched “Foundations – The Ambuja Knowledge Initiative” as an endeavour to seek the patronage and partnership of the Architecture, Engineering & Construction community for developing Cement and Concrete exploration therby offering Ambuja Knowledge Center, a essential and diverse platforms of information, inspiration and interaction.

Customer Support Department of Ambuja Cements Limited, Mumbai has held A one day conference as A Bicentennial Celebration on occasion of arranging successful completion of 200 Technical Events at Ambuja Knowledge Centre, Andheri, under Foundation – A Ambuja Knowledge Initiative. The venue and date was Grand Ballroom at Hotel The Leela, Mumbai, on Saturday, 14^th March 2015.

Mumbai is expanding vertically because of scarcity of land and many high rise projects are under constructions and many more are in pipeline. Looking to the current trend and need of the Mumbai, the theme ofconference was kept “High Rise” and six experts in various construction fields invited as a keynote speakerswho spoke about the challenges & solutions in high rise constructions.

The conference started with Lamp Lightening & Opening Speech by Mr. Umesh Soni (Corporate Head : Customer Support Department – Ambuja Cements Limited). Er. Kaushik Dutta (Vice President, Thornton Tomasetti, India) talked on structural design with subject “Design Aspects of Tall Structures”, Er. Mousaa Baalbaki (Head – Advanced Concrete, Innovations, R&D – Holcim Technology Ltd., Switzerland) spoke on “High Performance Concrete for Highrise structures”, Er. Jean-Phillippe Thierry (In charge – Quality Control and Product Development, Lafarge Aggregates and Concrete India) covered quality aspects under topic “Quality Assurance of Concrete for Highrise Structures”, Er. Martin Horlesberger (Project Manager, Super High Rise, Doka Gmbh) discussed on “Modern Formwork Systems for Highrise Construction”, Er. Suhas Dhuri (Director – E Cube Consultants) talked about “Role of Microfine Materials in High Performance Concrete” and Er. Manish Mokal (Sr. Manager – QC, Gammon India Ltd., Mumbai) spoke on “Design and Execution of High Strength Mass Concrete”.

About 175 senior construction professionals from the construction industry were present during the conference and interacted with the speakers on various topics mentioned above. Lots of case studies of high rise buildings under construction nationally & internationally were discussed. This will help the working construction professionals to understand and have solutions of various issues related to highrise construction.
