China and Maldives agree to conduct preliminary study on bridge construction to connect Capital Male with Int’l Airport

China and Maldives have signed an deal to conduct preliminary study on constructing a bridge (Maritime Silk Road project), that would connect capital Male with the international airport.

The MoU – Memorandum of Understanding), for a pre-feasibility study, of the project has been signed. Soon project feasibility study, with a design plan, and exploring possible funding options for the project would follow.

This initative would establish the 21st century Maritime Silk Route as visualised by China. The route would start from Fujian province, China, and continue throu the Malacca Straits, the Indian Ocean via India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Nairobi in Kenya and eventually cross the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal to end  at Venice.

Venice is where a New Silk Route also ends. New silk route which is a land corridor that starting in Xian,  China and go through Central Asia, before entering Europe.
