Eight Km of distance between Nagole and Mettududa was covered by a train, without driver during its automatic trial run; as a part of Hyderabad Metro Rail trial run exercise.
State of the art railway signaling systems with French equipments were used for this trial.
The route between Nagole and Mettuguda is going to be operational first and is under trial runs as well.
A train operates on its own; it self controls its movement, speed, performance and automatic application of breaks, without any intervention of a driver. The driver only needs to press the button to open and close the doors at the stations. The HMR can upgrade to fully automatic mode at any time.
Out of the total 72 Km Hyderabad Metro Rail; the first phase is expected to be operational by March 2015.
