Japan plans largest Floating Solar Farm in the world

The 13.4 MW plant is the latest in a growing number of swimming solar projects.

Apart from Solar PV being installed on rooftops, industrial parks, carports; now top of water installation is becoming a increasing trend.

Kyocera Corporation and Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation joint venture is planning to develop a 13.4 MW (world’s largest) floating solar power plant near Tokyo, in Yamakura Dam reservoir. The project will generate power which would be enough for 4,700 households.

Century Tokyo Leasing will fund the project while Kyocera Group will construction, operation, maintain and also supply solar modules and related equipment.

The modules will be installed on patented Hydrelio floating platforms manufactured by the French company Ciel et Terre.
