The construction of a pedestrian subway at Kurla station is expected to be completed by next year as the tenders have been invited by the Central Railway for the crucial phase of the project.
This pedestrian subway will benefit nearly about 8 lakh people residing in the suburbs. An RCC box structure and a staircase below the tracks is yet to be constructed. Manthan K Mehta said ,”The Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road that was opened recently has improved connectivity between Kurla east and west.
However, a pedestrian subway is a necessary because most buses in the western suburbs originate from Kurla west and those for Chembur and Navi Mumbai operate from Kurla east.”
