The $1.25 billion, 10.6-kms, Gulf region’s first tram service, will run every 10 minutes and 12 minutes in peak hours and during off peak hours respectively.
The tram is expected to transport 27,000 people every day. Each tram can accommodate 405 passengers with two cabins reserved for women and children and one cabin for ‘gold class’ passengers.
Fares would be 3 dirhams for silver class and 6 dirhams for the gold class per ride, some stations have air-conditioned bridges with escalators and lifts.
Apart from being; the world’s first tram network to use platform screen doors at the stations the tram, also uses automatic protection technology to ensure comfort and safety to passengers.
