Mass Transit projects to benefit Big and small cities across India in a decade, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu

Union urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu is hopeful of  having  metro rail network of  over 1,000 km in coming decade.

Over 375 km in New Delhi & NCR, under phase-I and II of DMRC, Bengaluru and Mumbai metro with 17 km, and 11.4 km, operational and already sanctioned 97.4 km and 65.37 km respectively,.

The Chennai metro rail 9.05 km, extension of the network to Tiruvottiyur via Wimco Nagar in addition to  43.54-km monorail under consideration project, and sophisticated rail transport for 97.59 km being planned in coming decade. Four major cities in the country are already the beneficiaries of operational metro or the monorail network.

Smaller cities and towns like Hyderabad, Kozhikode, Nagpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Jaipur, Kochi, Pune and Lucknow, are the ones to get either a metro or monorail network in near future.
