Now, Spanish firms offer expertise to develop high-speed rail network and other infra projects in India

Mr. Jamie Garcia, Spanish Minister of commerce, has led Spanish delegations’ meeting with officials of Indian railway board and has shown their willingness to offer expertise, experience and investments to develop high-speed rail network.

Currently, Spain is one of the largest networks of high-speed trains in the world. After Japan and China now, there is Spanish interest in participating in the high-speed train projects I India. Japanese government is working on a feasibility report for a bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, and China is working on high-speed train to connect Delhi with Chennai. Earlier even US President Barack Obama too have offered assistance in developing high-speed rail network but have not disclosed any details though.

Spain also has shown interest in offering investments and technical know-how for highways, ports, renewable energy and building smart cities.

Spanish investments through companies in India, is about 4 billion euros, with unlimited opportunities and possibilities.

Isolux Corsán, Spanish giants have already made their presence felt through 270 million euros deal to build two highways in Assam and one each in Odisha and Rajasthan.
