Owner-Operators Increase Adoption of Bentley OpenPlant

Bentley OpenPlant’s enhanced information mobility has been recognized by several owner-operators who adopted the software, all realizing the advantage of having one toolset to coordinate and share information across multi-discipline project teams. Some recent adopters of OpenPlant include Cargill, Monsanto, Evonik, and Styron, among others. Long-term value from OpenPlant includes the capability to future-proof data by using an open format based on ISO 15926, underpinned with tools that support the migration of data from other vendor formats.

Karl Harridence, engineering project manager at QGC, a leading natural gas explorer and producer, said, “The standard format for interchanging documents and 2D files is PDF and for engineering design there are standards around data and data attributes to be recorded but no guidelines around a standard way to record ‘design.’ Responding to these unique challenges, Bentley was the only vendor who offered QGC the ability to have one standard format for the output of the design elements across the entire QGLNG project.”
