Despite a large group of BJP leaders in Pune and other groups supporting underground metro; the state government seems to be all set to go for an elevated metro rail project. The state and central governments are in favour of report prepared by the DMRC under supervision of E Sreedharan.
City BJP leaders, led by MP Anil Shirole, have strongly opposed the DMRC report, claiming that local experts have objected to the plan. However, the Centre has reportedly told the state government that the metro project had been stuck for all these years because of a group of people who claim to be experts.
“The state government is likely to take a decision on the Pune metro within a month.
