The Pre-Public Investment Board panel will soon invite PMC to present its project and then will be sent to Centre for final approval.
Pune Municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar presented the project to the pre-PIB committee which consisted members of finance, transportation, railway and planning departments.
One more presentation to the PIB Committee is due and then it will go to the Union Cabinet for final approval.”
Principle approval from the Union Urban Development Ministry to the Pune Metro project has been obtained in February 2014 itself. A procedure to understand special suggestions and objections for the project; for fast approval, was instructed by the state government’s high-powered committee.
Pune Metro – phase one i.e. Vanaz-Ramwadi route worth Rs 3,223 crore is expected to get ready by 2021. Phase two i.e. Chinchwad – Swargate corridor cost is estimated at Rs 6,960 crore.
