Udhampur-Katra rail line operational from 4th July

Udhampur-Katra rail line 25 km long was inaugurated on July 4th by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The rail link is being commissioned after prolonged delay. Temporarily, the trains will not be able to arrive at the Katra directly following the commissioning of the rail link part of the operational 53 km Jammu-udhanpur railway line.

This will enable pilgrims headed to the Vaishno Devi shrine to travel directly to the base camp at Katra. This railway link project would be the biggest project in the construction of the mountain railway and this new railway line would be 345 km .Currently, the work is under progress for the remaining sections. The project has been built at an anticipated cost of Rs 1.132 crore.
